Description
This pack will have your students making better connections to better their comprehension in no time! All activities are aligned to Common Core (RL.1-3, RL.9 and RI.1-3, RL.9)!
What You Get:
~4 Posters (Text Connections, Text-to-Self, Text-to-Text, Text-to-World, and Text-to-Media) Each includes a picture and description of each text connection type.
~Foldable Note Taker for teaching each type of text connection. Students illustrate, define and give examples for each. Great for interactive notebooks. Teacher model is included.
~2 Text Connection Recording Sheets for students to record their connections while reading. The first one is for recording in various different books, while the second one is set up like a double entry journal with "What I read..." on one side and "My connection..." on the other and is more suitable for one book that is being read, such as a guided reading book. I've included backs for both worksheets so that each can be easily copied front to back.
~Comprehension Chains: This fun, engaging activity allows students to record their connections using paper chains. Each student can do their own or it can be done as a class, where one chain is continually added onto or 4 chains (one for each connection type) are added onto. Directions and chain templates are included.
~Connection Chain Poster: reads "We're building better comprehension one link at a time!"
Have fun and please leave feedback~ it is greatly appreciated!! :)
