Description
Students will improve their reading comprehension as they complete the research and crossword puzzle about the history of Motown Records. Topics include: The Jackson 5, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, and so much more!
Motown Records is an American record label owned by the Universal Music Group. It was founded by Berry Gordy Jr. as Tamla Records. Its name, a portmanteau of motor and town, has become a nickname for Detroit, where the label was originally headquartered.
Motown played an important role in the racial integration of popular music as an African American-owned label that achieved crossover success.
This webquest features 30 questions that challenge students in a variety of reading and critical thinking strategies.
This resource is editable and Google compatible.
