Description

Celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AAPI, AANHPI) Heritage Month in May or when studying modern/contemporary musicians with this Virtual Field Trip:

  • Mxmtoon (This or That?)
  • Olivia Rodrigo (This or That?)
  • Sam Tsui (This or That?)
  • Vanessa Hudgens (This or That?)
  • Yuna (This or That?)
  • Bruno Mars (True or False?)
  • Yo Yo Ma (True or False?)
  • Zayn Malik (True or False?)
  • SUMMATIVE CROSSWORD & ANSWER KEY included
  • Notes to Teacher page

Each musician's slide first starts with an image of a location to represent their heritage, then with a single click flies away to reveal a short biography & listening/music samples. When in presentation mode, clicking an artist will allow students to jump to the corresponding activities:

  1. This or That- A listening activity asking students to share their musical preference between 2 songs (all rights belong to original artists.  Please consider purchasing their music to support them!). YouTube links will start automatically with a single click.
  2. True or False game- Also best out of Present mode in order to move icons on the slides.

Providing a copy for each student will allow them to manipulate slides for activities such as the crossword puzzle at the end. There is an answer key included and skipped, but I suggest deleting the slide when sharing with students. Answers are found in the musician biographies.

All slides are editable, so you may switch out icons, audio, or photos as desired. The linked Bitmoji that jumps students back to the world map can be switched with your own and linked accordingly (Ctrl + K).
