    How To Write Complete Sentences

    Constructing Sentences

    Writing Workshop Escape Room

    The purpose of this Writing Workshop is to engage your students in an Escape Room activity to learn more about the important components for being an effective writer. Watch your students get excited as they try to get accepted into The School of Writing Wizardry. In order to get accepted, students will cooperatively work through six tasks that relate to writing (parts of speech, the writing process, punctuation, figurative language, topic sentences, and paragraph structure).     Grammar Detectives

    These activities are intended to provide your students with an understanding of some of the most basic grammar. The worksheets provided will help your students understand topics such as subject, verb (predicate), punctuation, sentence fragments, nouns, pronouns, prepositions, adverbs, adjectives, and combining sentences. Grammar Detective teams will earn “Detective Points”, which will determine their ranking. This activity will have your students work in teams as grammar detectives to try to better understand the English language and become more proficient writers. Students will use their flip cards and then record their answers to determine what kind of “Detective” they are. Note: The answer key provided is accurate to the best of our understanding. There may be a few tricky answers to a couple of the sentences. Included with this resource is an editable answer key.

    Flip Cards:

    They are called “Flip Cards” because they are meant to be bound together with a metal ring and “flipped” through.
