6-Step Sequencing Cards
After reading the story, practice sequencing! You may choose to laminate the colored copy for yourself and give the students the black & white copy to cut & sequence. Remove cards to decrease sequencing difficulty.
Written Ordering
After reading the story, you may have older students number the sequenced steps 1 – 6.
Context Clues
Use context clues to fill in the blanks. Use the word bank or remove it for added difficulty.

These are to be used with the vocabulary matching mat, or can be used as a standalone worksheet.

Sequencing Mat
When working on written or picture sequencing, ask your students to look for the clue words listed on the numbered mat. This visual will help to recognize sequencing vocabulary.
Vocabulary Matching Mat
Cut out the vocabulary and definition strips that go along with each story. Cut and paste the corresponding word and definition together or write them beside each other.
WH- Question Mat
Practice writing or verbally asking & answering WH- questions using the graphic organizer.
Vocabulary Graphic Organizer
Write a targeted vocabulary word and complete the graphic organizer.
