The intersection of a plane and a double-napped cone. A hyperbola is the set of all points (x, y) in a plane, the difference of whose distances from two distinct fixed points, the foci, is a positive constant. In this scavenger hunt activity, students will practice writing the standard form of a hyperbola, finding the foci, vertex, determine the orientation of the transverse axis, and asymptote, complete the square.
