This is an IPA style Interpretive Reading activity based on a text that explains the historical origins of Carnaval. The activity includes questions that ask students to make connections and comparisons between the target culture and their home community.I use this with a very advanced 8th Grade class that has had full immersion since 6th grade. It is an Intermediate Low level activity. This activity pairs well with my full comprehensible input unit on the origins of Cajun culture in Louisiana
One of my goals this year is to incorporate more social justice based activties. The following PBL activity is a final assessment to accompany my "A-t-on tous les mêmes droits?" unit. I use this with a very advanced ninth grade Level 2 class, but would be perfectly appropriate for levels 3, 4, and above.
