Promoting international mindedness, provoking critical thinking , looking at experiences close to home, personally and globally. This is an interactive IB PYP Learner Profile bulletin board! Print, laminate and hang the pockets onto your board and pick and choose the thought-provoking tickets that will go inside. This is a growing packet and will have additional tickets added all relaying to the Learner Profile. UK and USA spelling provided. Easy print, black and white option available for the tickets.
There are 10 pockets, one for each of the IB PYP Learner Profile , acting like posters, assisting the children with their knowledge and understanding of the Learner Profile and how it relates to them, as learners. The tickets are also for each Learner Profile trait. With 10 tickets focusing on communication skills and 5 focusing on literacy skills for each Learner Profile trait, you have to begin, a total of 150 questions! Enough for a conversation a day for the entire school year! More tickets will be added with this growing bundle, to focus on research skills, self management, thinking skills, social skills, the key concepts and maths oriented thinking. Included: Communication tickets: Pull the tickets and use them as conversation starters for morning meetings, end of the day pow wows, partner work or small group work, all whilst developing communication skills. Encourage the children to use the board independently, thus promoting student agency within your classroom. The thinking skills are differentiated from higher level thinking to more personal reflective answers, with questions such as:
“Communicator - Social media is a form of global communication today. Do you feel that it is a reliable source of information?” and “Courageous - Think about a time when you were courageous. Describe how you felt and what you did.”
Literacy tickets: These tickets tie the Learner Profile with literacy and can be used with guided reading groups, independent work or as centres for any text with both verbal and written responses. Examples include:
“ Knowledgeable – Give an example of figurative language that you found in the text and describe how it made the writing better.” as well as “ Balanced – Describe how the author created a sense of balance within the text.”
Mix and match as your year progresses , all the while developing the children’s knowledge and thorough understanding of what it means to be a learner. These are designed with 3rd-5th grade in mind.
