What educators are saying

I used this resource with my 8th grade Spanish 2 students right before Christmas vacation. They had just finished a unit and I didn't want to start a new one. When they returned from vacation they presented their findings to the class. They enjoyed it very much.

Description

Looking for a fun student-centered way for students to learn about Christmas traditions in Spanish-Speaking Countries? This is slideshow project that will have students engaged in learning about holiday traditions. Students conduct independent research with a packet of questions then they create a slideshow to present their findings to the class. (See preview for additional details).

This is a great way to keep students engaged before the winter break. When I do this project, I plan for 3 days of work in class and 1 day for presentations. Any work not completed in class is homework. I have received great feedback from students and I love seeing them get excited to share about what they have learned.

What to expect:

You Receive a Google Doc that includes:

-Teacher’s Guide

-Student Research Sheets (can be completed in Google Doc or printed)

-Slide by slide guide for students (7 slides total)

-Rubric (30 points with 3 categories - editable)

-Link for 3 Student Sample Projects

-Link for Google Slide Project Template to be edited.

-Presentation Listening Activity Chart (to ensure everyone is engaged during presentations)

NOTE: Everything is Editable. Questions are in English, but you can require upper level students to create their slideshow in Spanish if you see fitting.

Final Project is a Slideshow which can be done in Google Slides or PPT (there is a template for Google Slides only).
