PURA VIDA!!! Fourty- eight teachers have bought this product which I updated May 2020. In comparison to many of my other 75 products (ISIS, Nuclear Proliferation, Syria, etc.), this power point will bring you lots of smiles. Costa Rica is truly a unique country, and one which has a lot to teach us.

This is a country which has literacy rates and life expectancy equal to Europe. It is a country which, aside from gasoline, is almost completely powered by renewable energy. It has no army, and has had democratic rule for a century. It has even elected a female President. Blessed with an incredible array of flora and fauna, it earns significant income from “eco-tourism.” The wonders of Costa Rica have led me to visit 9 times, three of those times with students from the high school I taught at.

One third of the power point are visuals that enhance your understanding of CR, but only take a second to review such slides with the students.

Along with the power point, this product includes a chart of Central American stats, with an accompanying sheet of questions, which will lead the student to ask why Costa Rica is so different than the rest of Central America.

Also, included in the “package” is a quiz, an outline that corresponds to the Ppt, and a ten sided description of Costa Rica. The slide show can be used either before or after students read the excerpt on Costa Rica. (Note: the 10 sided description can be considered optional).
