Description

Are you looking to bring a deeper understanding of the IB PYP key concepts and conceptual understanding to your students? These posters are designed to be used as learning engagements that will really have the children thinking through the lens of the key concepts and developing a solid understanding of concepts. As we teach through a transdisciplinary approach, the key components within the PYP are the skills based activities and concept based inquiries. Using these posters and activities will have your students thinking more conceptually, using the guiding questions to assist and working towards formulating their own concept-based inquiries. The Create-Your-Own Posters activity extends on the children’s understanding as you progress through the school year, allowing them to bring their voice and understanding to the reference posters. UK & USA spelling.

*You also receive a free bonus activity as an example of how I explicitly teach the key concepts within our transdisciplinary units of inquiry.*

This set of posters, designed for grades 3-5, goes above and beyond the usual reference posters. These are collaborative learning activities within themselves that provoke thinking, narrow the focus through the key concepts and promote greater conceptual understanding that can be transferred across the disciplines and your programme of inquiry. If you would like a set for little kids, you can find it them here.

You will find:

•7 key concept posters

•Graphic organisers for recording thinking

•2 x self assessments

•7 blank templates to create your own key concepts posters

** BONUS ACTIVITY AS EXAMPLE FOR EXPLICIT TRANSDISCIPLINARY TEACHING OF CONCEPTS**

You may also be interested in these resources which also develop concept-based thinkers and inquirers. These Key Concepts Fans are a fabulous tool to have the children create and then keep in their desks or at home. They can refer to them at any time. Another great tool are these Provocation Starter Cards. They also help to guide the children with deeper, concept-based thinking and are perfect for developing conversations.

You can also find more information for developing thinkers and inquirers in my blog and within my online PD course, Essentials for Inquiry: Getting Started with Student-Led Inquiry.

Enjoy!
