What educators are saying

My students loved this resource. I was able to effectively modify it to fit the needs of my students with IEP's.
I used this earlier in the semester while educating my class about Executive Order 9066 and the internment of Japanese Americans. It was an excellent resource and easy to understand for my students.

Description

Japanese Internment Camps Primary Source Reading & Worksheet

This is a marvelous first-person account of what it was like for a 19-year-old girl from California to be placed into an internment camp during World War II.

Told in a passionate, engaging style by civil rights activist Yuri Kochiyama, it tells the effects of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Executive Order 9066 on her and her family. The worksheet is slightly edited to a one page reading for students with an introduction to set the stage. Following the reading is a set of comprehension questions to guide students thinking on this fascinating and tragic period of American history.

This download also includes an editable Google Docs version! This can be assigned to students directly through Google Classroom and used for digital learning or in 1:1 or paperless classes!

A great resource for a reading, civics, US History, or social studies class!

This can also be purchased as part of my World War 2 Unit Plan Bundle along with dozens of other great resources for teaching about WW2!
