Description

This is an approximately two day (50 minute class period) lesson to introduce and practice using marking measuring tools: measuring tapes, speed squares, carpenter's/framing squares, levels, and chalklines. Occasionally the lab aspect of this lesson in day two leaks over into a third day.

Both a teacher lesson outline and student handout are included. The outline contains frameworks for Arkansas, brief instructions for the teacher, a set up plan for each tool station, and higher level and cross-curricular questioning to begin day two. The student handout contains instructions and questions to answer as they rotate through each tool station.

This is an excellent resource for students to get hands-on experience with these highly important but often overlooked tools before they are truly needed in a construction project. My students have enjoyed the set up thoroughly and this is a *great* lesson for an administrator observation.
