What educators are saying

This is perfect for my sub plan as it is multi day and can cover an unexpected absence. I also plan on doing this for our last project of the year if it is not needed as a sub plan.
I used this activity as sub plans and then had my students share their completed project with the class.

Description

Why do we need to know about robots? What are robots used for today? What are examples of robots in everyday life? This real-world robot research project will help your middle school students discover answers to these questions and more!

In this engaging project, students meet Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and Common Core State Standards (CCSS) as they research a real-world robot of their choice. Your students will use assigned websites to find a real-world robot that piques their interest. Then they’ll learn about their chosen robot and compile their research using a graphic organizer. Next, students will summarize what they have learned by creating a poster. Finally, students present their work in a gallery walk activity and complete an independent reflection activity.

The real-world robot research project is independent and low-prep. It would make a great STEM sub plan, holiday break packet, or extra credit assignment. Grab this activity today to save your planning and prep time, while knowing your students will be engaged and inspired with this robot research project!
