Description

Recently, I had a back injury that caused me to miss several days in my classroom. My substitute binder was worth it's weight in gold during this time! I strongly recommend having a binder prepared and ready for those times you don't realize you're going to be absent. My substitute commented on how helpful and beneficial my Sub Binder was each day. She said that she utilized the important information in the binder on a daily basis. I've decided to share my format with you. If you have any suggestions, please share them. I am a second grade teacher and I have included all of the pages I currently keep in my binder. It brings a sense of relief knowing that whether I have a pre-planned absence or an emergency absence, my substitute will always have everything they need for the day at their fingertips. I hope you find it helpful in your classroom. Happy Teaching!
This set includes the following:
1) Class List (You can edit this list.)
2) Important Daily Procedures (You can edit this list.)
3) Classroom Contact List (You can edit this form.)
4) Medical Needs/ Allergies (You can edit this form.)
5) Pull-Out Schedules (Cover - place lists behind form)
6) Behavior Management Plan (Cover)
7) Transportation Home (You can edit this form.)
8) School Map and Emergency Procedures (Cover)
9) Emergency Sub Plans (Cover) I always place 2 days of emergency plans with review packets, writing activities, and educational games in this section.
10) Substitute Note – Please provide feedback about your day.(I place multiple blank copies of this form in my binder each year. Then, it's always prepared and ready to use.)

Feel free to let me know if additional forms would be beneficial. I'm always looking for new ideas that are beneficial. Remember that your subs often only have about 5 minutes to look through the binder because they must prepare for their day. They need to be kept simple and easy to understand.
