Set Activities:
Activity #1 - A Common Core task designed to teach the basic concept of symmetry. Students will read the task card and then work in groups to try and define the word symmetry and give real life examples. It uses three colorful anchor charts and a prewritten task card. The teacher will need to supply large chart paper for the groups to use.
Activity #2 - The students will creating a flip book of symmetrical and non-symmetrical items. Projectable anchor charts are included to check their answers after the activity.
Activity #3 - The students will examine the 12 different letters and creating a flip book of symmetrical and non-symmetrical letters.
This activity also has a projectable answer page to use to discuss their findings.
Activity #4 - Drawing the Missing Symmetry - Students are given half of a picture and they have to draw the missing symmetrical part. This pack comes with 9 different pages to use so that every child will be able to pick one that interests them. This is my favorite activity and the kids just love it!
Activity #5 - Symmetrical poetry - Students use the poetry page to write an acrostic poem using symmetrical things. A great activity to tie ELA and math together!
Everything the teacher needs is included in the pack except large chart paper. All five activities come with a page of directions for the teacher.
The file does use some color ink, but if printing in color isn't an option for you all of the pages print perfect in black/white!
