TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a second grade teacher in TN! I adore second graders! They are independent enough to do things, but still young enough to be excited about everything we do! I've been teaching for over 20 years! I can't believe how fast it has gone by!

MY TEACHING STYLE

A smart administrator once told me at a an interview..... A good teacher is not the star on the stage, but a guide on the side. That's me.... I don't lecture or talk a lot to the whole class. I like to let my kids be active learners. We love reading novels and doing math tasks. We work lots and lots in groups and the arrangement of our desk changes all the time. It's a standing joke with the kids each morning. Task #1 - find where my desk is today!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Teaching keeps me very busy, but I also work as a TN Common Core Coach. I have really enjoyed learning from all of the amazing teachers all over the state and enjoy teaching teachers in my spare time. Teaching teachers is exactly like teaching kids.... they sure love to talk and a piece of candy makes them smile!
