TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I came to be a teacher after a career in commercial banking. My original intention was to only teach for two years with Teach for America, and to invest some time in closing the prevalent education-gap in our nation. At the end of my contract, I could not leave my students. So I continue to do whatever it takes everyday to help my students reach their goals and potential. I am an Educational Staff Author and Content Manager for lynda.com - I work hard to create teacher training that is relevant and focused on student achievement.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Our students are natural scientists! As a teacher we simply facilitate and mold the inquisitive middle-school mind to be open to complex ideas, and push meta-cognative awareness. Essentially, my students learn by doing, and through exploration. The resources I have posted are not designed to hand-feed students information, but allow students to wrestle with ideas, mix in their own beliefs, counter common misconceptions, and drive students to be their own educator.
