TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My experience in creating materials for the classroom is varied and encompasses a variety of content areas. I have a Bachelor's degree in Middle grades education, emphasis in language arts and social studies. My Master's degree is in Library Media, which provided a varying knowledge base from children's literature all the way through high school literature. In addition, I have completed a Rank 1 Reading and Writing Specialist degree, which required 30 graduate hours beyond my Master's degree in extensive reading and writing curriculum classes.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I would consider myself to be the teacher that combines lecture, cooperative learning, inquiry learning, and a fair amount of technology to challenge my students to succeed. Classroom assessments and activities require students to perform at varying Depth of Knowledge (DOK) levels.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

The school where I teach is ranked second in the state for our state assessment scores.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Rank 1 Reading and Writing Specialist degree (30 hours beyond my Master's degree) Master's degree - Library Media Specialist Bachelor's degree - Middle grades education: Language Arts and Social Studies emphasis

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am married to my soul mate, Andy, and we have two beautiful children: Jeremiah, age 6, and Jasmine, age 4.
