TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 18 years of experience teaching ESOL, Spanish, Special Education, and Speech/Language Pathology. I have taught grade ranges pre-K-12th and adults at the college level. I am currently working adjunct for Quinsigamond Community College, The Hudson Adult Learning Center, and Chelsmford Community Education teaching Spanish and English as a Second Language. I have the experience of living and studying abroad in Spain, where I attended La Universidad de Salamanca. I understand what it is like to adapt to a new culture and language. At first, my experience was difficult with understanding the language, especially in the classroom, ordering food, and following directions to get from place to place. I was fortunate to be able to travel and by being fully immersed, I came home with advanced Spanish proficiency in all areas. In this way, I can relate to my students that are learning a second language. In addition, I utilize my skill set by taking all of my education, background, and experience to create lesson plans with the highest level of the profession and develop instruction where they are sure to make progress and gain confidence as I provide many opportunities utilizing the target language!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I deliver instruction based on thematic, interactive, and fun digital lesson plans that start from scratch and walk you step by step through it. My teaching approaches are using a multi-modal approach to learning to access all student's needs and learning styles. In addition, I believe in using a "No One Size Fit's All Approach" as all students learn differently. My lesson plans contain interactive websites, games, images, videos, quizzes, and more, provided with explicit information, descriptions, and detailed examples. The instruction is differentiated and scaffolded and I use a variety of interactions to learn such as, working independently, within pairs, in collaborative learning groups, teams, projects, Total Physical Response to learning, and more. I use a variety of formative assessments and utilize them to collect ongoing data. I believe in involving students in creating portfolios and setting attainable objectives where they will make sufficient progress and can play an integral role in measuring it along the way. My goal is to assist my students in becoming more confident and independent, within and out of the classroom setting as they create pathways to succeed in all of their endeavors.
