Kate has 9 years of teaching experience, primarily in middle school science. She has also taught high school chemistry and is a teaching and research fellow at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, where she helps with their undergraduate courses on science and cooking. When designing resources, Kate works with a variety of educators and PhD students to make sure resources are fact-checked, relevant, and meaningful for students.
We prioritize experiential, immersive learning that encourages students to experiment in the classroom (and beyond). In particular, many of our resources embody a sense-making and phenomena-based approach in which students can use all of their senses to experience the process and/or product of a food, connect it to their own experiences, and unpack and make sense of it through different science concepts. Then they can further explore through tinkering and designing their own inquiry-based labs.

Kate is a graduate of Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) with Masters in Learning Design, Innovation and Technology and a teaching and research fellow at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Other educators involved are either graduates or students of HGSE or current teachers, primarily in the Boston and Washington, D.C. area. PhD students at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences are also behind some of our resources.
We are always looking for teachers to pilot our lessons and partner with! If you are unable to afford our resources and are interested in piloting a lesson and providing feedback and data, please message or email us.
