TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a high school math teacher who has also spent some time teaching middle school math! I've been teaching math since 2012, but have only been teaching at the high school level since 2015. Right now I'm really enjoying teaching AP Statistics and the remedial Algebra classes. In the past, I taught middle school math intervention classes (Title I) and regular 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math classes. When I taught middle school and as I teach Algebra, most of my time is spent working with students on basic skills while trying to figure out ways to help students become more confident in math and more excited about learning! I love helping the high-need students, because it is so rewarding to see the changes that take place in the intervention classes! My husband also works as a graphic designer, and I am constantly asking him to create graphics, posters, etc. for my classroom. As our collection of classroom materials grew, we decided it would be great to share these materials with others as well. We hope you find some things that will be helpful for your own classroom!

MY TEACHING STYLE

Some of my favorite teaching strategies include cooperative learning, hands-on learning, and learning through discovery. I think technology and visual components are very important in helping today's students focus and enjoy learning. Lastly, I try to consistently incorporate spiral review into our daily activities to sharpen and strengthen student skills as much as possible during the limited school day.
