I am a native Spanish speaker from Dominican Republic. Since moving to Colorado, I have been teaching Spanish for two and half years. I have worked as an Academic Developer for a language school, in which I conducted interactive group teaching sessions with adults and youth in Spanish, as well as collaborated with the development of innovative curriculum for four levels of Spanish. In addition, I have worked as an after school Spanish teacher and bilingual tutor in Boulder and Denver for two years. Currently, I am obtaining my teaching license in elementary education in a Graduate Teacher Urban Education Program at UCD. For this upcoming school year, I have been hired as a fourth grade teacher.
My Spanish lesson plans invariably address concepts using different methodologies that approach all learning styles and personalities. I take great pleasure in searching for clear explanations that will enlighten my students. For this reason, I am constantly constructing and discovering new ways to introduce new material and reinforce previous concepts in fun and engaging ways. Moreover, I strive to expose students to Latin American culture and real-life scenarios in which they can use their Spanish.
