TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for a total of 12 years now (in an urban district) and have been my absolute happiest in 5th grade these last 9 years. In the last 5 years, I have been teaching in a gifted cluster classroom (mainstream and gifted students) and so I have been working hard on differentiation and extension lessons and activities. But I have also taught in an English Language Immersion class, so I have experience with using language development strategies.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My motto is...hands-on and product-based as much as possible! I enjoy building a rapport with my students and holding them up to high expectations no matter what situation they are in. I use oodles of technology and real-life learning to get my students to invest their time and energy. We are a community of learners who use lots of Kagan and team-based activities.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Nationally Board Certified Teacher since 2014 (Middle Childhood Generalist) Kagan Site Trainer

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies (Education) Masters Degree in Multicultural Education as well as Reading and Gifted Education Endorsements
