TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have had the pleasure of teaching in the school setting for over 14 years. I was a cross-categorical special education for 8 years, working with students in kindergarten through 4th grade and a 1st-grade teacher for two years. I currently work part-time as a reading specialist, coaching teachers and interventionist with kindergarten through 8th-grade students as well as a professional tutor. I am a curriculum writer at heart. I have been making materials that align with the common core for myself and my teams to enhance student learning for years. I believe in the importance of best practice and research-based methodology. I am passionate about helping ALL students be successful. I want to continue to create resources to help teachers make that happen.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in the importance of engaging students and building strong relationships. I also use individualized, multisensory, differentiated instruction that I know is best practice based on current brain research. ALL children can learn and as an educator, it’s our job to teach them in the best way possible while giving them confidence in their abilities.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

• Bachelors Degrees in Elementary and Special Education • Masters Degree in Education-Literacy • Currently finishing training to be a Certified Orton-Gillingham teacher
