I have been in education for 25 years. I taught seven years in second grade before moving to my home in first. I LOVE teaching kids to read. Now I work as an instructional coach helping teachers learn and grow in their craft.
I guess I have a balanced approach. I will try anything I think will help my kids learn. I spend part of the day doing routine repetitive activities and part of the day doing creative higher order thinking. The kids need both.
"Thank you for helping me to read. You are my favorite teacher. I love you Mrs. McGowan”
I have a dual degree in early childhood and elementary education. Somehow when I moved to GA and took my teaching test I picked up middle school certification but would rather pluck my eyebrows out one at a time than be with that age. I have a masters degree in instructional technology with a k-8 math endorsement.
I have a wonderful husband and two children of my own.
