About Betty J. White: One of Betty’s first teaching experiences was with the Maria Mitchell Association on Nantucket Island where she developed natural history programs for children. With a desire to share her enthusiasm for the environment, she went on to teach science and math at the middle school level at public schools in Massachusetts, Illinois, Maine, and Michigan. In time, she earned her M.A. in Reading and her English as Second Language endorsement and has taught preschool through college courses. As a teacher, she enjoys integrating science, art, and language and as a test-item writer for the Michigan Department of Education for nearly ten years, she developed relevant benchmark assessment prompts aligned to standards which focused on topics that spark curiosity.
My teaching style tends to be hands-on and my lessons are intended to spark the curiosity of the learner.
