TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught creative expression to all different ages. I have co-created and taught acting camps/courses for many years (ages 8-18) through my business: www.creativeexpressionforchildren.com and I was the assistant performing arts director for Central York High School in York, PA for over 10 years. Over the years-I have developed my own style and creative expression course that I have used in the High School, Middle School, as well as Elementary School levels.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach creative expression so many of the activities we do are experiential and based on exploring the body, face, and voice. I find that creativity is sometimes locked up in fear of "looking silly" or the assumption that "I cannot be creative" and that with a little support and some highly creative activities based on the universal language of play- that creative spark can be unlocked and suddenly there is more permission to let that voice out and read or speak with expression! I have found even the quietest of kiddos have fun with these activities and when feeling really supported-I have seen kids develop numerous skills (reading with expression, writing with depth, imagination, self-trust, confidence in speaking aloud, and making creative choices, etc.) I teach that your creative expression is always inside you and that we ALL have the birthright, ability, and talent to express ourselves in an authentic, clear, supported, and heart-connected way! I use puppets, basic scripts, readers theatre practices, improvisation, hero's journey exploration of face, body, and voice to unleash those vibrant expressive creative spirits!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Magna Cum Laude- Syracuse University 1999 Countless Theatrical Productions- an honor to work on them all.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated with a B.F.A in Drama from Syracuse University. I have since been in a variety of theatrical productions as well as directed, choreographed, designed, and taught in hundreds of shows over the years. I am a certified ReUnion Process kinesiologist, Reiki Therapist, substitute teacher, and am currently deepening my practice with PhD studies in Awareness Training from the School of Humanity and Awareness in Atlanta, GA. www.sohaonline.org I started my own business 2 years ago and am thrilled to be expanding and sharing my love of creativity to many different schools.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My family and I moved from PA to Kansas City, MO a few years ago and I am building my business here where my husband and I are currently raising our three kiddos. We have identical twin daughters and a son. I love to write and teach creative expression! I have enjoyed writing scripts for classrooms throughout many years of exploring Readers Theatre as I have seen kids come to life with their expression through the art of theatre and it is my absolute joy to support this heart movement! I encourage all humans that are in front of children to embrace the immense honor it is to work with the next evolution of creative innovators. :-) Check out my website for more info on my mission: www.creativeexpressionforchildren.com
