I am originally from Texas, but spent most of my life in Colorado, USA. I hold a Bachelor’s of Art degree in history with a minor in philosophy from the Metropolitan State University of Denver. In 2005, I completed English as a Second Language training through TEFL International and earned an internationally recognized TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate. In addition, I completed Metropolitan State University of Denver's Elementary Licensure Program for Kindergarten through 6th grade, as well as the Colorado State Endorsement Program for K-12 Linguistically Diverse Education in 2011. In 2013, I completed my Master's of Science in Education degree with a specialization in Teaching English Language Learners from Walden University. I have previously taught in Thailand, South Korea, and in Denver Public Schools in Colorado before moving to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to teach 4th grade.
“My mission is to bestow a love of learning upon my students by teaching with passion and excitement. I will act as guide and facilitator to empower students in their learning journey and to provide clarity and direction when needed. I will teach to how students learn using effective research based strategies. In a culturally and linguistically diverse setting, I will build trust with my students so they can gain confidence in themselves and in the English language.”
