I have over 30 years of teaching experience in gifted and talented education, special education, and 3rd grade. I recently retired from an exciting schoolwide enrichment program in Texas for ALL students, not just GT, called the Challenge Lab! I'm currently a Gifted Education Consultant...I present a wide variety of Differentiation and Gifted and Talented in-services, and consult with districts and schools on setting up Challenge Labs. Visit my blog at http://challengelabenrichment.blogspot.com/ for more info!
Differentiation is my specialty! I believe in teaching with hands-on activities whenever possible, allowing students choice, and gearing activities towards students' strengths and passions!
I worked in the regular and gifted classrooms in a National Title I Distinguished School from 2002-2018. I was chosen Oak Crest Middle School Teacher of the Year. I have presented in my own school districts and campuses, various Texas school districts, at the Texas Association for Gifted/Talented (TAGT) conference and Leadership Conference often since 2005, for regional education service centers, and at the annual conference of the New England Council for Gifted and Talented.
I have a B.A. in Elementary and Special Education, Kindergarten Endorsement, Early Childhood Handicapped Endorsement, and a M.Ed. in School Leadership, all from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
I love helping teachers take and groups take the mystery and stress out of differentiation! Let me share some easy teacher-friendly strategies for rigor and engagement with your group! Want a GREAT way to promote academic excellence in your WHOLE school, and nurture your GT program at the same time?
