This am currently in my fourth year teaching Family and Consumer Sciences! I have taught almost every area of FCS including: foods, child development, interpersonal relationships, apparels and textiles, housing and interior design, and resource management. I love helping other educators almost as much as I love working with my students.
My teaching style includes using a good mix of technology and paper assignments. I do find that students do best when taking notes by paper in a fun, creative way. I also try to mix up individual, group, and teacher-led learning activities so the environment doesn't get "stale". You will find that many of my assignments are Google based as I am a Google fanatic!!
I am still young in my teacher career, but have always been a "go-getter". I earned Valedictorian and Summa Cum Laude, keeping my 4.0 GPA both in high school and college. I earned a variety of scholarships related to academic success and leadership. I am also on the board of directors for the professional organization in my state and help at the state level with our FCS mentoring program.
I went to college at the University of Central Missouri (UCM) in Warrensburg, MO. I graduated with my BS in Secondary Education- Family Consumer Sciences Education option in December of 2020. I will start my masters in K-12 counseling in summer 2024.
My favorite hobbies are the things I will get to teach students about each day. I love baking, sewing, crafting, reading, watching documentaries, and hanging out with my 3 cats- Nugget, Elsie, and Crazy Daisy!
