Working in a private school I have the joy of teaching students from 2nd through 8th grade. I spend the majority of my time with middle school students teaching Humanities(English/History), but have the opportunity to teach the lower school Intellectually Gifted students. For both classes I have the freedom to create my own curriculum where I love to share my passions and ignite within my students the desire to become life long learners.
Within my classroom I love to look at each of my students as their own unique person. I do not think that there is a one size fits all approach to teaching, and I try to embrace that within my classroom. I use many different styles of teaching and focus on project based learning. Middle level students are such a joy to be with and they need to be taught in a way that is specific to them. They are too old for "kid" things, but too young to be thrust into High School. I desire to help them feel like they are getting the respect and challenges they deserve while still engaging their childlike side as they transition into the teenage years.
