Full SPED Ahead -- Heather Cacioppo

I am a special education teacher turned instructional coach and curriculum and assessment director in Illinois. I have been in self-contained classrooms for 8 years. I have primarily worked with middle school and high school students with ability levels ranging from pre-k to 3rd grade. I have a passion for life skills and meaningful activities that are age appropriate for my learners!

It is my mission to help students develop the skills necessary to be independent and life-long learners! Real life experiences are among the most beneficial teaching tools in special education. I believe a well crafted lesson and supplemental materials are necessary to help teach the students about their futures!

● I also have helped create the Readtopia curriculum alongside Don Johnston and Karen Erickson in 2016.

● I completed my undergraduate degree at Illinois State University as a Learning and Behavior Specialist 1
● I completed my master's degree in 2020 in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Teacher Leadership.
● I am also highly qualified for grades K-8

I have a rescue dog named Blue who loves to cuddle, and I enjoy taking him for walks on my free time! You may also see me cuddled up with a good book or a sweaty workout! I'd love for you to connect with me on social media!
