UPDATE! [Seventh Year (Nov 2019-Current) [ESE Resource/Push In K, 2, 3] Jessica 3-20-2020 I hold a teaching certificate in the state of Florida and am certified in Exceptional Student Education K-12, Elementary Education K-6, and have my ESOL endorsement. [First Year ('11-'12) K/1 Multi-Grade] [Second Year ('12-'13) 2nd Grade] [Third Year ('13-'14) 1st Grade] [Fourth Year ('14-'15) 1st Grade] [Fifth Year ('15-'16) 1st Grade] [Sixth Year (Aug-Dec '16) 1st Grade] THEN CAME A HUGE CHANGE MID YEAR...NEW SCHOOL, NEW GRADE! [Sixth Year ('17) Kindergarten]. For the '17-'18 school year, I moved to storage and stayed home with my little ones and taught online ESL for VIPKID. Up until March of 2019, I was still home and only teaching online. Then somehow, someway, I wound up starting in a kindergarten class back at my home school. These kiddos have had 3 teachers before me this year and I am thrilled to be able to begin providing a classroom environment of consistency and dependability. They have been a wild bunch thus far; I have my work cut out for me! I can honestly say, despite the struggles and hard times, these kids are going to leave me in May and I am going to cry my heart out. They just needed love. That's all any of our students need in order to be successful. I hope that I am able to give them the confidence and knowledge to finish out the last 3 months of the school year. Wish me luck! -Jessica 3-18-2019
I am extremely data driven. I use Whole Brain Teaching and LOVE IT! I am continuously working to improve WBT skills and procedures in my classroom. I love explaining things and starting discussions amongst my littles. That being said, I am a firm believer that children need kinesthetic experiences (in addition to all others like visual, musical, etc.) even if they are not necessarily a kinesthetic learner. At this young of an age, children are still investigating and curious about everything. Allowing them to be able to dive in hands first with a skill or objective, whether games, manipulatives, around the room activities, whatever gets them moving, is VERY important in my classroom. Another very important part of my teaching style is proactively modeling and consistently having an atmosphere of learning with a GROWTH MINDSET. It's common for children to shut down when they cannot complete a task or do not know what they are doing. In my classroom, I model asking a lot of questions. I model completing a task incorrectly and then asking my students for help. When students understand that making mistakes is OKAY and NORMAL, they begin to understand why. This is when they can begin to use these opportunities to investigate how they made their mistakes by asking classmates for help, checking their work, etc. so that they can eventually correct themselves. RECOGNIZING YOUR OWN MISTAKES should be an exciting thing for students, NOT embarrassing or shameful. Only with that GROWTH MINDSET will my students be able to truly learn and be confident in moving forward no matter how many times they mess up. ...PROBLEM SOLVING... :)

I am 32 years old and have known that I wanted to be a teacher when I was in kindergarten. I still talk to my kindergarten teacher (and many other of my stellar teachers) and am thankful for her and all she has taught me. I was a fire wife. My husband was an EMT firefighter for our county until recently (Dec 2019) when we decided it was best for him to leave. He was diagnosed with work related PTSD. He is currently in school for radiology. :) I am a mommy of two beautiful, hilarious girls. Joie is 7 and Mia is 4. I have over 7 years of teaching experience in primary and I just went back to my home school to teach kindergarten for the last 3 months of school. Before now, I spent the past over 1 1/2 years being a SAHM and working part time online as an English immersion teacher for students in China (and now many, many other countries!). Although I am back in the classroom, I still save my weekends for teaching my regular students that have been taking my online English classes since I started in July 2017. I'm also the conductor of the Hot Mess Express and those who know me, know that I can be a bit overwhelming and... SQUIRREL! ...a bit unfocused and a disaster on legs most of the time. :) If you have read this far, congratulations on making your way through my novel and thanks for tolerating me! haha <3
