TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am in my 15th year of teaching 4th grade in Florida. I have had lots of time to hone my craft and improve my work. Still looking for innovative ways to teach things! :)

MY TEACHING STYLE

I focus in on the four key components or reading, thinking, talking, and writing. I am a big fan of cooperative learning and things like Socratic Seminars. I love to get children thinking and analyzing, while making it interesting, yet relevant in any way possible.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have been grade chair twice, DBQ person for my school for several years, STEM teacher for 4 years, and have been chosen to speak to the curriculum person for the county for my school.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I attended the University of Michigan, where i obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education degree with a major in English and a minor in social studies. I attended the summer programme at Oxford University in Oxford, England in he summer of 2012, where I stayed at Exeter College and studied Shakespeare and Chaucer. I went back to the University of Michigan and took more literature and writing classes in preparation to go back to Oxford for my Masters, but ended up getting a job in Florida and moving here.
