I worked as a 1st grade Bilingual Teacher for the West New York School District for 6 years prior entering the Gifted and Talented program. I also hold the following certifications: ESL Teacher of the Handicapped Elementary (K-5)
My goal as a teacher is to facilitate learning through the creation of a positive environment. A place where materials and instruction are developed to match the learning styles, strengths and special needs of each of my students. Moreover, my teaching practices tend to reflect my focus on collaboration, diversity, literacy and technology. I believe in no dull lesson; therefore, I love to create and use multi-sensory activities that will remain memorable to my students for years to come. My observations performed at different academic settings have made me aware of the increasing diversity of our schools' population, and indeed of our society. As a result, I always try my best to be understanding of my students' personal, socio-cultural and linguistic backgrounds in order to provide them with a learning environment that is not impersonal to their needs and life experiences.
