I have been working in the special education field since I was in junior high. I started out as a peer tutor for students with significant disabilities and helping them participate in general education classes. This continued on into high school where I got a job as a para-educator working with students with severe disabilities at an elementary school. Before I left for college, I worked full time as a lead para-educator for students with severe disabilities. I went to college and earned my Bachelors degree in Special Education with an endorsement in severe disabilities. Once I graduated, I worked as a full-time teacher in a severe behavior unit. Followed by where I currently am - this is my 4th year as a full time teacher in a mild/moderate disabilities setting (resource) at an elementary school!
