Joy of Montessori

I have been a private professional educator for over 20 years and primarily an online educator since 2009. I have run my own vocal training studio teaching vocal music, acting, and public speaking skills. I have worked as an associate professor of finance and economics at the undergraduate and graduate levels, primarily focused in the area of corporate finance delivered in online format. I have worked extensively with speakers of English as a Second Language in American accent acquisition and advanced English speaking strategies, in particular business professionals who use their voice regularly. I have worked in bilingual Mandarin/English schools in Nanjing, China.

I was a Montessori student as a child, and I believe strongly in self-led, research-based learning. I believe children and adults learn best when self-motivated and inspired to research answers to questions they generate. I see the role of the teacher as a guide who assists students in unlocking the keys to learning, so that they are empowered to teach themselves.

I hold a Bachelor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance and Comparative Literature, a Master of Science in Finance with specialization equivalent in economics, a diploma in early childhood education from the North American Montessori Center and MACTE certified through the Center for Guided Montessori Studies. I have a deep interest in the Mandarin language and have an advanced beginner level of competence in spoken and written Mandarin.
