I have 35 years of experience teaching in 1st through 4th grade classrooms and as the school librarian to grades Pre-K through 5th grades. I now enjoy keeping up with fresh teaching methods and ideas through the inspiration of teachers here at Teachers Pay Teachers. I also love volunteering in a nearby elementary school.
Although I am now retired, my goal as a teacher/librarian was to create an atmosphere that welcomed students and teachers for quiet browsing, researching, reading, studying and just absorbing the love of books. Once all felt comfortable in the space, my goal was to introduce literature and match every single student with something that would interest them and where they would find success.
While I was often 'appreciated' by my supervisors and coworkers, my true joy came from seeing all kinds of students become lifelong learners and lovers of literature.
I have a bachelors degree in elementary education from ULM, a masters degree in curriculum and instruction and an additional library certification for Pre-K-12 school libraries from the University of Texas.
