TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I graduated from East Carolina University with a BFA in Art Education and a BFA in Art with a concentration in ceramics. I have been teaching elementary visual art for 8 years and counting. I taught for five years in North Carolina, USA and I am currently teaching in Beijing, China at an International School.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I generally teach Project-Based visual arts lessons leaving time for students to explore their own individual interests throughout the year. While in Beijing, I have dived into the IB PYP approach to teaching where I connect my units of study to what the students are learning in their homerooms. I also really enjoy teaching ceramics to students!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have received numerous PTA, Donors Choose and Adopt a Classroom Grants over my years of teaching. I was lucky to be Teacher of The Year in 2017.
