I have been teaching in Indiana for the past 15 years. 5 years were spent teaching kindergarten in a rural elementary school. I am currently in my 10th year of teaching 4th grade at a Catholic school in Columbus. I am blessed to do what I love- teach! I also enjoy mentoring new teachers in my building and hosting student teachers. Teaching teachers has become another passion of mine!
If I could summarize my teaching style, it would be that I do my best to make learning fun! I love teaching, and I want to kids to love being in my classroom. As a foster parent, I have been through and also had a lot of experience with educating those children that have a history of trauma. My teaching style is deliberately inclusive of all students. I focus on building a community of trust and hard-work. I have found that this is the most effective way to teach a classroom.
Yet to be added
I graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Elementary Education. I am currently working towards my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. I have also spent a significant amount of time obtaining and renewing my Foster Parent License (which involves a good deal of trauma education). I have hosted two student teachers in my classroom, along with several students that were in the earlier phases earning their degree in Elementary Education.
My husband and I are also proud parents of two boys, foster parents to a sweet girl, and a dog parents to Roxie!
