“A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove... but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.” Forest E. Witcraft

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

30+ years experience includes student teaching at a university preschool and a high school, teaching middle school students in a summer school program, teaching high school students for 5 years. This included teaching those students how to run a preschool with 18 preschoolers. I also developed and supervised a vocational internship program, where high school students taught in community preschools and kindergartens. For 27 years I have owned my own preschool and have taught over 1,000 students over the years. I have also worked extensively with children in church, scouting, and as a volunteer in the public schools. I am a mom to 5 children and a grandmother to 14!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love children! I believe the most important things we can do for them is to instill in them a love of learning, confidence to follow their dreams, and a knowledge that they are loved and important! My preschool teaching style is in line with these values. I believe children need order and predictability in their lives to feel safe and confident, so I do follow a regular schedule, that we modify at times for various activities. I encourage independence and creativity, as well, and feel that children are much smarter and more capable than we often believe! My goal as a preschool teacher is to give them a positive first experience with school!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I was born the oldest of 7 children, had 5 of my own children, and now have 14 grandchildren, age 8 and under. My entire life has been centered around children! I have been involved with children throughout my adult life, through teaching and leadership positions in my church and the Cub Scout and Boy Scout program. I have been a volunteer in the public schools throughout the time my children were in school in the classroom, on PTA boards, and through volunteering in their extracurricular activities. I have done day care, have my own children's clothing store, and run my own preschool. I love children!
