TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been an English teacher in both middle school and high school classrooms. My experience is mostly in a Title 1 environment, working with students who are underserved, who are language learners, who are behind in grade- level reading for a variety of factors, who deserve an opportunity to succeed. I also serve as a PBIS coach and am a Google Certified Educator ( Level 2).

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a proponent of project based learning and assessments that allow students to demonstrate mastery in a way that makes sense to them. I prefer to minimize direct instruction, but provide support and facilitate as student strengthen reading, writing, and digital literacy skills.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Distinguished Early Educator Bright Star - Improving Success on CMAS ( state)testing Google Certified Educator, Level 2

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I grew up in Colorado Springs and attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, earning a degree in Communication ( essentially rhetoric). I Started my career in nonprofits and marketing but quickly realized that my heart was in education. After working with students as a private tutor for long enough, I decided to go back to school to pursue a career in Education. After earning my Masters in Secondary Education I began my career as an educator and have never looked back!
