TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching 9th grade English since January 2013. The majority of my literature classes are co-taught inclusion classes. I am entering my 2nd year teaching journalism.

MY TEACHING STYLE

In my classroom, I am "Momma H" because I love my students dearly. I strive to make my classroom a safe space where students can share their thoughts and learn from their mistakes. Our curriculum is standards-based.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

-2016-2017 Teacher of the Year for LCHS 9th Grade Campus -My school has recognized me as one of our Teachers of the Month for the past two years. -I am continuously amazed by the accomplishments of my journalism class. Since taking the class over, we've created and maintained a news website for our campus. Two of my student journalists were received 1st place at a RESA competition for a video on feminism that they worked on in between article deadlines.
