I am a licensed teacher in the state of Utah. My content areas are secondary English Language Arts, Speech Communication, and ESL. Throughout my University experience I wrote hundreds of lesson plans and used them in many classrooms in Service Learning and Student teaching opportunities including after school programs for at risk middle school students and summer programs. I completed my student teaching at a high school with many troubled and at risk students. My classrooms were a mix of native English speakers and students who were learning English as a second language. I had to learn to keep my lesson plans, unit plans, and assessment tools interesting and, rife with scaffolding.
I am a mid to low control teaching. I like my students to have big thoughts, take risks, make mistakes and learn from all of it. I'm very interactive, low lecture and, high praise. I'm flexible and, try to listen to the needs and wants of my students. I always try to strike a balance between rigor and fun. I believe a classroom can and must have both to achieve success.

Hello! My name is Leah and I'm a creative writer and former teacher. I enjoy reading, writing, cooking, and trying new things. I have decided that I have a lot of old original teaching material lying around that may be of use to some to people like you. Good luck!
