I have experience teaching language in diverse settings and locations. I began my career by teaching elementary and intermediate French at Michigan State University for two years. After teaching at MSU, I moved to Bordeaux, France where I taught English to French high school students for one year. I have spent the past two years teaching French to 9th-12th graders in the United States.
I teach French using the communicative method-- meaning that getting my students to communicate in the target language is my primary goal. To reach this goal of communication I strive to reach different types of learners by teaching orally, visually, musically, kinesthetically, etc.
2010 Michigan State University- Department of French, Classics and Italian Teaching Assistant of the Year
I attended public schools in southwestern Michigan where I began studying French during the 8th grade. Upon graduation I went to Michigan State University where I studied French, history and education. I also received my Master of Arts degree in French from Michigan State University.
Teaching is my passion and I LOVE seeing that "lightbulb" moment where my material really clicks with students. In my spare time (what spare time?) and with my spare money (what spare money??) I love to travel. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family, shopping and reading Agatha Christie novels.
