A public school is my second home. I have been a certified teacher for 10 years in Oregon. I teach at a school with high poverty and academically challenged kids. Regardless of the level, I always find that their imaginations are full. I love to instill the love of writing in kids by exposing them to multiple genres and fun ways to write.
Providing opportunities to write through quiet, calm writing activities AND clipboard, move around the room activities. I love to let kids have solo time to write, but also encourage collaborating and writing in groups.
My biggest honor was being recognized for starting a mobile library in our school community so kids could have books to read over the summer. If you read, the books will come!
I have a Bachelor's in Business Finance from San Diego State University and a Master's in Education from Western Governors University.
Giving back and volunteering is important to teach young kids and I do this by leading an elementary Community 101 group. We get to give back to our local non profit organizations.
