TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I currently teach physics, physical science and robotics. I am a polymer chemist by trade. I left industry about 12 years ago to teach. Before teaching I owned and operated a plastic fabrication business. This business became the world's most advanced plastic fabrication facility back in the late 90's. Unfortunately, after 9/11 the business declined and by 2007 it was closed. This unfortunate event left me wondering what's next? And I chose teaching! After many successful years teaching chemistry/physics, I have developed a number of effective teaching tools I now wish to share with you.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I beleive that the student can do many things beyond what most teachers think they can do - you just need to let them! In my classroom, we do many activities and labs - about 36 different activities and labs. I beleive that through experiencial learning the student's knowledge-base and learning grows enormously. By putting the work in their hands, it frees the teacher to walk around and observe whether true learning is occurring or not. My activities and labs are specifically designed to do just that! Each activity or lab perfectly reflects what is being taught in a lecture or demonstration.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Many different awards scholarly and other.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I received a B.S. degree in Chemistry at the University of Texas - Arlington and after joining the teaching force a M.ed in Science methods at the University of Nevada - Las Vegas.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

While at the University of Texas - Arlington, I worked on the Star wars project in conductive and dielectric polymers. Some of the work was published by a post-doctoral student. **** The image shown on this front page is an image of a salt crystal model I currently manufacture for the teaching industry - it is made entirely of solid wood balls drilled, shaped, glued, and painted - all hand-crafted to the highest quality.
