TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Over ten years, I've been lucky enough to teach in Illinois, Mississippi, Nevada, and Louisiana. Now I can take what I've learned from each of those unique experiences and compose thoughtful and effective lessons.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My classroom moves at a lightening fast pace. I use Power Teaching for student engagement. I never allow students to be off-task, even for a second. I pack a lot of material into a short time period. I value "stuff that's not on the test", like memorizing weekly fluency poems and instilling a love of reading. I'll laugh and cry with my students and let them know, we're in this together.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I immediately think of the accomplishments of my students. One year, our fifth grade class raised their collective reading level from 3.3 to 5.5 in one year. A few years ago, seven of our "red" students moved up two indicator levels to "green" and have maintained that throughout their elementary careers. Last year, we were blessed with a homeroom who were not necessarily the best and brightest, but they were the sweetest and most hard-working group I've ever had the pleasure of working with. This group went from 62% proficiency to 85%.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I'm proud to have graduated with a degree in Education from Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois. I hold endorsements in Art, Language Arts, and Middle School Instruction. When I found myself teaching in Reno, Nevada, I completed an ESL endorsement from Sierra Nevada College.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

It has to be effective; it has to be easy to implement. This is the mantra I live by when creating curriculum for my classroom and my TPT Store. As a seller, I want to make your life easier so you can focus on your students. Don't see something you need? Just send me a message...I may have just what you're looking for!
