I have been teaching for 7 years. Most of my time has been spent in lower elementary. I am now a stay at home mom who is writing curriculum for my preschooler so that she can be kindergarten ready.
I love to teach and learn through hands-on exploration. I find that the more my students do and apply what they have learned the more they retain. Learning should be FUN!
Teacher of the year nominee 2015
Growing up I struggled with reading. I just couldn't seem to understand how to put the letters together to make words. And how to connect the words I did know to make sense of what I read. I just couldn't seem to put it all together. In the sixth grade I was finally diagnosed with dyslexia and started getting the reading help I had always needed. After a few years of really hard work I caught up to my peers and started to soar in school. The hard work of those special people who helped me during my time of struggle made me want to be a teacher. In 2007 I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education with a focus in Math and Science from UNC Chapel Hill.
I am a mom, teacher, and wife. I love to take care of those around me and do it with a passion. I always strive to do my best for those around me. Any time I hit a wall, it makes me work a little harder to achieve my goals.
